From June 27th to 29th, 2025, the Western Regional Finals of the Non destructive Testing Innovation Practice and Application Competition of the 2025 Chinese College Students' Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition, hosted by the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering and jointly organized by the Non destructive Testing Branch of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering and Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical University, was successfully held at Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical University.

    The China College Students' Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition Non destructive Testing Innovation Practice and Application Competition (hereinafter referred to as "this competition") is a competition activity for college and graduate students majoring in non-destructive testing and courses in higher education institutions (including vocational colleges) across the country. Since its establishment in 2014, it has successfully held seven sessions. In 2024, this event will be included in the national level competition for the first time.
This Western Regional Competition covers 21 universities in twelve provinces in the western region, attracting 795 non-destructive testing participants to register for the preliminary round. After intense competition, 228 contestants stood out and successfully advanced to the Western Regional Finals, setting a new record for the scale of participation in the Western Regional Finals.

    This competition consists of regular season and innovation competition, with three categories: graduate group, undergraduate group, and vocational group, covering three core events: ultrasound, penetration, and radiation. Nantong UNION Digital Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Nantong UNION"), as the ultrasonic testing equipment and technical support unit for this competition, provided comprehensive services and guarantees for the competition and the contestants.     During the competition, the organizing committee organized a new technology exchange meeting. Professor Guo Zhenxiang, General Manager of Nantong UNION, gave an academic report on "Digital Intelligence Era and Non Destructive Testing Technology". General Manager Guo Zhenxiang conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the hardware and software of intelligent perception technology and artificial intelligence, digitalization, imaging, automation, intelligence of ultrasonic testing equipment, as well as the integration of industry and education and industry university research, which won unanimous praise from the attendees.

    With the successful conclusion of the Western Division, all regional selection competitions have ended, and the national finals of this event will be held in Jining, Shandong in September.
